About Ubiquiti Networks

Ubiquiti Networks is an American technology company started in 2005. Based in San Jose, California founded and led by Robert Pera. Ubiquiti has a unique business model that emphasizes R&D and eschews traditional marketing in an effort to produce high performance equipment at disruptive prices. The result is an attractive alternative to traditional high touch, high-cost providers. Ubiquiti consists of three principal divisions: its Service Provider Division, which seeks to close the digital divide by producing carrier-class long-haul wireless networking equipment at highly disruptive prices; its Enterprise Division, which seeks to democratize enterprise-class networking equipment such that it is accessible to small and medium size businesses; and the recently established Ubiquiti Labs, which produces innovative tech solutions for the consumer market.
Ubiquiti products have a fanatic user base and are widely used in both developed and developing countries throughout the world.

As a public company, Ubiquiti can and do offer great pay, perks, and benefits. Ubiquiti has offices around the world. Ubiquiti Networks® develops high-performance networking technology for service providers and enterprises. its technology platforms focus on delivering highly advanced and easily deployable solutions that appeal to a global customer base in underserved and underpenetrated markets. its differentiated business model has enabled us to break down traditional barriers such as high product and network deployment costs and offer solutions with disruptive price-performance characteristics. This differentiated business model, combined with Ubiquiti's innovative proprietary technologies, has resulted in an attractive alternative to traditional high-touch, high-cost providers, allowing us to advance the market adoption of Ubiquiti platforms for ubiquitous connectivity.

AirFiber Product Line

airFiber is used as a backhaul serving thousands of basestations. It provides Up to 20 Gbps Aggregate Performance and Sub-Millisecond Latency with World's Best Unlicensed-Band 15.9 bps/Hz Spectral Efficiency.
airFiber® implements the most efficient use of unlicensed-band spectrum - a vital attribute in increasingly crowded RF environments. By employing a unique dual-antenna design and proprietary self-interference cancellation algorithms, airFiber extracts more usable channels out of the available spectrum than any other comparable radio system. airFiber's built-in configuration tool guides the selection of RF channel bandwidths, transmit power, and other parameters to minimize interference potential and optimize link budgets.

airFiber Technologies

1.DUAL-ANTENNA ARCHITECTURE

  • Innovative Dual-Antenna Architecture
  • Synchronous Data Transmission and Reception
  • Robust Mechanical Assembly

The Ubiquiti Networks™ R&D (Research and Development) team created airFiber® for outdoor PtP (Point-to-Point) bridging and high-performance network backhauls. The team invented a market-leading, dual-antenna architecture. Each airFiber unit features a radical departure from industry practice: a one-piece "monocoque" molding comprising two complete antenna systems and a mechanical back-plane. "Monocoque" means that the exterior skin supports the structural load of the airFiber hardware; this same concept is used to construct lightweight, rigid structures, such as those used for Formula One race cars. Due to its single-piece, injection-molded architecture, airFiber adds lightness in weight and affordability to its list of advantages.
2.HDD (HYBRID DIVISION DUPLEXING)
  • Innovative Proprietary Modem Technology
  • Send Packets in Precise Synchronization
  • Increase Throughput and Reduce Latency

Ubiquiti Networks™ airFiber® modem technology was purpose-built to address the specific challenges of outdoor, PtP (Point-to-Point) bridgingand high-performance network backhauls. airFiber supports FDD (Frequency Division Duplexing), TDD (Time Division Duplexing), and HDD (Hybrid Division Duplexing).
3.AIRFIBER RADIO
  • Superior Throughput with No RF Losses
  • Innovative Zero IF Radio
  • Flexible FPGA Architecture
  • Revolutionary Media Access Control
  • Multiple Input, Multiple Output Spatial Multiplexing
  • Time and Bandwidth Resource Management

AirMax Protocol Benefits

SCALABILTY

-802.11 protocol (based on carrier sensing) was designed for indoor networks where clients can "hear" one another. AirMax Protocol (based on TDMA) wasdesigned for outdoors; hidden nodes are no problem.

LATENCY

-AirMax protocol has "smart polling" which senses voice/video packets and gives them priority. It also provides priority to "active" clients over "idle" ones to optimize perceived latency on large networks.

SPEED

-AirMax is based on latest 1x1 and 2x2 MIMO radio technology. 150Mbps+ real TCP/IP throughput in PtP mode and 100Mbps+ in PtMP

Software

The operating system for Ubiquiti's airMAX® ac products, airOS® 7 provides powerful features, including airMAX ac protocol support, real-time RF analytics, and an all-new design for enhanced usability. airMAX® ac devices feature a second, dedicated radio that persistently analyzes the full 5 GHz spectrum and every received symbol to provide you with the most advanced RF analytics in the industry.

  • Powerful Wireless Features
  • Usability Enhancements
  • Advanced RF Analytics
  • Real-Time Reporting

Integrated on all Ubiquiti M products, airView® provides advanced spectrum analyzer functionality: waterfall, waveform, and real-time spectral views allow operators to identify noise signatures and plan their networks to minimize noise interference. airView allows you to identify noise signatures and plan your networks to minimize noise interference. airView performs the following functions:

  • Constantly monitors environmental noise
  • Collects energy data points in real-time spectral views
  • Constantly monitors environmental noise
  • Collects energy data points in real-time spectral views
  • Helps optimize channel selection, network design, and wireless performance

In airView, there are three spectral views, each of which represents different data.

  • Waterfall Aggregate energy over time for each frequency.
  • Waveform Aggregate energy collected.
  • Real-time Energy is shown in real time as a function of frequency.
  • Recording Automate airView to record and report results.

airControl® is a powerful and intuitive, web-based server network management application, which allows operators to centrally manage entire networks of Ubiquiti devices.

  • Network Map
  • Monitor Device Status
  • Mass Firmware Upgrade
  • Web UI Access
  • Manage Groups of Devices
  • Task Scheduling

airMAX ac TDMA Technology

Up to 100 airMAX ac stations can be connected to an airMAX ac Sector; four airMAX ac stations are shown to illustrate the general concept.
airMAX Network Scalability

Superior Throughput Performance

To enhance airMAX ac performance, Ubiquiti Networks introduces our patented airPrism technology, which is featured on the Rocket5ac Prism, model R5AC PRISM.

Improves SNR
High data rates require a high Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), which is challenging to achieve, especially in noisy, high density areas. Integrated into Ubiquiti's custom silicon, airPrism technology creates a high SNR by isolating signals within the operating channel and rejecting interference using specialized circuitry, the High-Selectivity Receiver (HSR). Removes Interference Depending on the product model and operating mode, available channel widths may include 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and/or 80 MHz.

Theoretically APs operate on different channels; however, because of the wider channel and widths, there can be overlap in spectrum usage. airPrism technology removes up to an additional 30+ dB of adjacent channel interference through the active filtering design, so an airMAX ac AP with airPrism technology can provide significantly greater performance than a typical AP.
